MetaBank have been in the financial services business since 1956. Through tough times they have stood tall in the market, and continue to do so today, continuously introducing new products with amazing features to satisfy their existing customers, as well as attracting new customers. The Metabank Only1 Visa Prepaid Card is one of those products that aim to deliver everything that a customer could want from a good all round prepaid debit card.
Introducing the 1Alerts system, the card company decided that a great feature to offer clients, was the ability to have your financial transaction notifications sent to you by whatever means was most convenient. This means that each day you can elect to have financial details about all transactions on your card account, emailed to your predetermined email address, sent by text to your mobile phone, or sent directly to the secure inbox area of your online account control panel. Long gone are the days when keeping receipts for every transaction is necessary. Today with the Metabank Only1 Visa Prepaid Card, you simply access all of the day’s expenditure records through this amazing 1Alert system.
The card also comes with the “Click-n-Pay” technology which allows you to pay more than 3000 listed billers instantly online. This is a service that costs you one dollar per payment after the first free weekly payment has been sent. So what this means for people that only have one bill payment to make each week, this payment would be free. If you have four payments to make each week to billers that are listed on the MetaBank billers database, you will receive the first payment free, and pay three dollars for the remaining three payments. If you are paying a biller that is not listed on the database, a paper check will be sent at a cost of one dollar per check.
Although there is a charge of fifty cents per transfer, another really cool feature of the Metabank Only1 Visa Prepaid Card is the “BuddyMoney” transfer system. This allows you to transfer money from your available balance to another Only1 account holder without the usual delays and transfer hassles. This is a very unique feature that MetaBank have incorporated into their range of cards, and it makes transferring cash very simple.
Adding money to your account is very easy as well. Not only can you arrange for direct deposit of funds to your account, or pay money over the counter at the bank, you can also top up your card through thousands of retailers. With a direct deposit from your wages or salary there are no charges for this type of funds deposit. With the retailer’s option, each retailer will have his own fees and charges for the service, and you should check these out before using the service to top up your debit card.
With the Metabank Only1 Visa Prepaid Card, you can purchase up to two additional cards for other people to share your available balance. Now this may sound strange at first, but if you are a parent with a couple of teenaged children, and you have an account specifically set up for joint expenditure, you can elect to pay the service fee of $9.95 for each card, and get a card for each of your children. This way they have access to the funds in that account for whatever purposes you allow them to use the money for. This could be bus tickets, homework supplies, or phone calls should they need to call you at any time.
Remember that by using your 1Alert system you can monitor the transaction history of your account at whatever intervals you deem necessary. This allows you to ensure that the kids are doing what they are meant to be doing with the card, and not spending money on things that you have not agreed to. By maintaining this account separately to your main banking account, it is only the funds in the card account that the kids have access to. The only criteria for these cards, is that the cardholders must be over the age of thirteen years.
Use of the card can be conducted in one of two ways. Any transaction you make can be declared a “credit” transaction or a “debit” transaction. With a “credit” transaction, at the counter when you are paying for your goods, you simply select “credit” on the swipe machine, and sign the printed receipt that the cashier will produce. Using the “debit” transaction is where you click on “debit” at the terminal and enter your PIN number. There is no signature required for this type of transaction. Normally with a prepaid debit card you might expect that there are fees for either one or both of these options, but with the Metabank Only1 Visa Prepaid Card, your $4.95 monthly account keeping fee covers all of these transactions. There is nothing more to pay when making purchases.
Basically this card has been designed to be the only card you will ever need. It is bundled with many features that are synonymous with MetaBank’s focus on customer needs, and the flexibility of the VISA brand. Like everything else and all alternatives, there are fees and charges, but as long as you are aware of what those charges are and how you incur them, you can quite easily tailor the use of your card to fit your needs perfectly. Providing you are over the age of eighteen years as the main account holder, this could very well be the card for you and your family. |
